The 5 Most Bizarre Places On Earth, I Couldn't Believe #3

These places are awesome I really would like to visit them someday!

1.)The Door to Hell, Derweze

In 1971, a group of geologists collapsed into a natural gas source in Derweze, Turkmenistan. The poisonous gas has spread all over the area, but what the geologist did next was unimaginable.

The geologists did not of allow the gas to spread out and kill all the local Teke people from Derweze, and instead they lit the poisonous gas on fire.

The natural gas cavern has been burning ever since!

2.)The Southern Pole of Inaccessibility

In Antarctica there is place called the Pole of Inaccessibility, and is known as the farthest place from the sea in every single direction. Archeologist say this is the most inaccessible area on the globe, and considered one of the coldest winters with a temperature of -58.2C (-72F). I think I would not survive a single day in this lonely and cold area!

The freaky part of this mysterious place is that there is a Vladimir Lenin statue on top of a cabin that was built by the Soviets in 1958. The exact location remains a mystery, as only a few people have found this spectacular monument!

I think the person who chose this location was a bit extreme!

3.)The Principality of Sealand

Yes people, it is actually possible that the small fort below is considered to be an independent nation. After the second world war, many gun platforms were left behind in the English Channel.

In 1967, a pirate radio broadcaster took up residence in one of them and declared the fort an independent nation. After having a fierce verbal battle in court with the Royal Navy, the small island was declared as a separate nation by the judge.

Can you imagine that this small country has its own currency, passport and even a tourist visa? Freedom from legal restrictions has made Sealand an attractive base for online casinos and file sharers.

What are you waiting for? Go and visit the fantastic principality of Sealand now!

4.)Mount Thor

In the Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada, there is an exceptionally natural work of art found, known as Mount Thor. I know what you are thinking but this mountain is not named after the movie Thor!

This mountain is so awesome that it is nominated as the “Greatest Purely Vertical Drop” in the world.

The shape of the mountain actually reminds me of the movie Thor, and at 4101ft (1250m), the fall is over 1.5x higher than the tallest hand made structure ever built — currently that is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

5.)Mir Mine

This giant puddle in the ground is the Mir diamond mine in Mirny, Eastern Siberia.

Many people say this is the largest hand made hole in the world, being 1720ft (525m) deep and 3900ft (1200m) wide.

This hole is so huge, that is actually sucked in a few helicopters because of the strong downward airflow, I would not want to fall in this hole!
